OLD IDEAS MADE NEW
IT'S MY STORY
from HEART & NATURE
Traveling thru ALASKA over the past 35 years,
from the CHATANIKA RIVER to the CHENA RIVER, FAIRBANKS to DELTA JUNCTION, CHICKEN and the CANADIAN BORDER. Returning west from the border, taking TOK /GLENNALLEN HIGHWAY to GLENNALLEN. Take a left and end up in
VALDEZ, or take a right on the RICHARDSON HIGHWAY a few miles to
the DENALI HIGHWAY, which is my favorite. The TANGLE LAKES area with the archeological history
brings me there at least twice a year. Continue thru GLENNALLEN to
WILLOW, PALMER, south to ANCHORAGE, SEWARD AND HOMER or
north to DENALI PARK and ending back in FAIRBANKS...north to
MANLEY, or if your really up for an adventure, keep driving 496 miles
to PRUDHOE BAY, BARROW and the BEAUTIFUL BEAUFORT SEA.and if your lucky enough, get a glimpse of a polar bear, {from very far away}...hopefully
Always looking for treasures, I have filled my pockets and beyond
with stones of all sizes, shapes, and colors, each of them with their very
own distinctive characteristics. I have found some very beautiful and
interesting rocks along the many streams that crisscross the countryside,
and some not so fancy, wondering when I get home why I would choose to carry them around all weekend only to be added to the holes in my driveway. Walking along a riverbank and listening to the sound of the
water always makes me feel relaxed and serene, this makes "ROCKHOUNDING"
the #1 choice of activity. Along with that is CAMPING...EVERYTHING OUTDOORS. I love fishing, 4wheeling, flying my kite or the drone, metal detector, buckets, shovel, gold pans are alwayz on the list, endlessly searching for that POT of GOLD
The glistening of the water rushing over the riverbeds bring
out the true colors of each individual stone. At the end of the
day, my pockets are full, the back of my truck packed with more
stones than gear. The collection of my
SPECIAL SPECIMENS soon took over the yard and worked its way into my house.
Everyone who comes to visit, I insist on showing them my latest find. Wanting to share all these unique,
ONE-OF-A-KIND
gems with my friends and family, I decided to share them with
the world to see!!! Being a crafty girl with enthusiasm for the
unusual and eccentric, artsy stuff, it dawned on me that by
putting two of my life's passions together, I could finally show off my exquisite collection of river stones and my crafty self.
AND that's how ALASKAN RIVERS ROCK got started!!!
I hope you enjoy my
creations as much as I did making them...
